We need your support
Continued development and maintenance of this free Virtual Collection and the Paleontological Research Institution's (PRI's) broader Earth@Home project depends on support from visitors like you.
Donations of any amount are welcome.
As part of our project, we have used photogrammetry to create interactive 3D models of fossil specimens from the collections of the Paleontological Research Institution. All of these models may be viewed on our Sketchfab page.
These models have been developed into topically-arranged Virtual Collections, which may be accessed below. Learn more about the Virtual Collection project here. All of the models have Creative Commons 0 (CC0) licensing and may be freely viewed, downloaded, 3D printed, and otherwise used as you wish.
A video overview of the Virtual Collection project was presented by Jaleigh Pier at the 2020 Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of America Meeting and is shared below.
A user guide with tips for using the Virtual Collection in your teaching or learning may be accessed by clicking on the button below.
Most of the models were created by Emily Hauf and Jaleigh Pier. A step-by-step user guide to creating photogrammetry models may be accessed via the button below.
